Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker player on the planet by most of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching turning one. His grandpa taught him penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wished to learn anything he could about poker. He routinely would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t allow the detrimental feedback from other people annihilate his goal of being one of the strongest poker competitors on the planet.

He began competing intently after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his techniques at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The first few years for him were a teaching opportunity and winning wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved 2 final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he defeated quite a few of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his success to dedication and an immeasurable love for poker. He says that he’s learning every single day and is quite humble about his success. Phil knows he makes mistakes in each session of poker and constantly aspires to improve.

Even though Ivey has come first in some big tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a normal basis.
