Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker player in the world by most of the top-ranked professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to learn every little thing he could about the game. He routinely would tell his parents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He did not permit the detrimental comments from others annihilate his ambition of becoming one of the strongest poker players in the world.
He began competing seriously after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial few years for him were a teaching experience and winning wasn’t a common thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP when he made 2 final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he destroyed quite a few of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil made a decision to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his success to discipline and an immeasurable passion for the game of poker. Phil states that he is learning every day and is quite abashed about his accomplishments. Phil knows he makes errors in each game of poker and always aspires to get better.
Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he prefers winning cash games on a regular basis.
