Poker has become globally acclaimed lately, with televised tournaments and celebrity poker game shows. The games universal appeal, though, stretches back in fact a bit farther than its TV ratings. Over the years many variations on the original poker game have been created, including some games that are not in fact poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is 1 of these games. Despite the name, Caribbean stud poker is more closely resembling chemin de fer than traditional poker, in that the players bet against the dealer instead of each other. The succeeding hands, are the established poker hands. There is little concealment or other kinds of deceptiveness. In Caribbean stud poker, you are expected to ante up before the croupier saying "No further wagers." At that moment, both you and the casino and of course all of the different gamblers are given 5 cards each. After you have looked at your hand and the bank’s 1st card, you must either make a call wager or bow out. The call wager’s value is akin to your beginning wager, which means that the stakes will have increased two fold. Surrendering means that your ante goes directly to the house. After the wager is the conclusion. If the casino doesn’t have ace/king or better, your bet is returned, including a sum in accordance with the ante. If the house does have ace/king or better, you succeed if your hand defeats the casino’s hand. The bank pays out cash even with your ante and set odds on your call bet. These expectations are:

  • Even for a pair or high card
  • 2-1 for 2 pairs
  • 3-1 for three of a kind
  • 4-1 for a straight
  • 5-1 for a flush
  • seven to one for a full house
  • 20-1 for a 4 of a kind
  • fifty to one for a straight flush
  • one hundred to one for a royal flush
