Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker competitor on the planet by quite a few of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching turning 1. His grandfather taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to discover anything he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t let the detrimental comments from others destroy his ambition of becoming one of the greatest poker competitors on the planet.
He started playing seriously after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a learning period and coming away with a win wasn’t a regular thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved two final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he destroyed quite a few of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and a continuing love for poker. Phil states that he is picking up skills every day and is incredibly humble about his accomplishments. He knows he makes mistakes every single game of poker and constantly aspires to get better.
Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some large tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a regular basis.
