Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker player on the planet by quite a few of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching turning one. His grandpa taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to discover every little thing he possibly could about poker. He routinely told his parents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He did not permit the detrimental comments from other people annihilate his ambition of being one of the best poker competitors on the planet.

He began competing intently after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first few years for Phil were a teaching period and coming away with a win wasn’t a normal thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he made two final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he defeated a number of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and a continuing love for poker. Phil states that he’s learning every day and is very humble about his achievements. He knows he makes errors in each session of poker and constantly aspires to improve.

Although Ivey has won some large tournaments, he prefers winning cash games on a normal basis.
