Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker player in the world by many of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching the age of one. His papa taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to pickup whatever he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t let the negative comments from others destroy his ambition of being one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.

He began competing seriously after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a learning experience and winning was not a normal outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP when he made 2 final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he defeated a number of the well known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his success to dedication and an immeasurable passion for poker. Phil states that he’s picking up skills every day and is incredibly humble about his accomplishments. He admits to making mistakes every single game of poker and constantly aspires to improve.

Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a regular basis.
