Do you ever get that itch? The itch to bet, to head to the closest betting house, to come across a superior stakes game of Holdem, to sit at a Twenty-one table for hours on end. I love that itch. And I like to scratch it.

I also love to watch people bet. No two poker faces seem alike. When I bet I like to think I put on a poker face that is impenetrable. But I know I’ve certain personal habits. For 1, the only time I smoke is when I wager on poker or Blackjack. And then I smoke. Except I smoke whether I am winning or losing, whether or not I have a excellent hand or bad.

I once wagered in a weekly poker game. The casino game was often 5 card draw. There was a man who played with us each and every week who constantly wore a hat. When he was given a beneficial hand, unconsciously, he would start touching and playing with his hat. Needless to say, he never won.

The greatest poker player I ever saw was a person who created far more actions and gestures at a poker table than anybody I had ever met. He was impeccable in the way he dressed. Constantly an high-priced suit and tie, footwear shined and nails manicured. He was meticulous in this manner. And he was generally brushing his pant leg or holding his hands or stacking his chips in neat little piles.

I use to study him for long periods of time. I would tried to see if I could spot his tell. Picking lint off his shirt- did this mean he was bluffing? Arranging his chips in a short pile – did this imply he had a excellent hand?

Years later I bumped into him in a very bar in Vegas and we had a beer. I asked him if he had been aware of all those motions he manufactured or if they had been unconscious. He informed me that each individual thing he did at a poker table was deliberate. He said that everybody is usually checking out everyone else’s poker face. They’re attempting to detect the the tell.

So his system was to provide them lots to think about. His reasoning was if they have been pondering about him selecting a piece of lint off his jacket and what it meant they sure were not thinking about their cards.

His process was diversion. And it worked for him. In no way give up a program that functions for you.
