Annie Duke mightn’t have won her first World Series of Poker Bracelet until 2004 but she is still one of the most feared poker players around the ring games at The Bellagio in Vegas. Annie’s long-overdue WSOP bracelet came with success at the "forgotten game" of Omaha Hi-Lo.
While players from the "young crowd" of poker run wild following a huge success at the tables, Annie goes home to be "mum" to her 4 children. She was born in New Hampshire and grew up in a family of poker players. If you do not accept that, check out her brother, Howard Lederer, in action, who taught Annie the correct way to play the game.
However, Annie Duke is not a small change girl and has captured her share of difficult tables, which includes knocking out Howard along the way on numerous occasions.
Earning over 3 million dollars in tournament action, Annie branched out to become a consultant to both UltimateBet and actor Ben Affleck, who wished to hone his abilities and become a power player at the poker table.
You might see her at the Bellagio, you will see her on television and you might even compete against her in an internet poker game, but don’t count on an easy win. Unless you are a rising star, you will not beat her. However, it is likely to be cool to say you played at the same table as "The Duke".
